Air Hockey ChallengejawaproSat 27/10/2007 09:55 AM
Ok Turkeybrain - I told you I'd get myself an Air Hockey table when I moved out and got a job - and here it is!
Now I challenge everyone to come to Devonport and give me a match.
I actually picked this up on ebay, and collected it two weekends ago, and Mum and Dad delivered it last weekend when they came through with the trailer to pick up the Vespa (thanks!) - I just havent gotten around to posting about it yet.
I always loved playing Air Hockey at the arcades, but it's always expensive. So when Turkeybrain and I were playing a game in an arcade in Hobart, I told him I'd buy my own table eventually. It took me almost a year, but I finally have. Now I just have to convince Turkey to make the trip up north so we can have a match.
My brain struggles to keep up with the speed of a decent Air Hockey match - but it's still insanely fun.

Trying to install RISjawaproFri 26/10/2007 12:49 PM
This is extrememly Frustrating! I've been trying to install RIS (Remote Installation Services) on a Windows 2003 server for ages now, and its not working. Well, I tell a lie - RIS is working, but the images arnt. When I boot a computer from the network prompt and ask it to install an image from the RIS server, it says it dosnt have the right network drivers in the image, and gives up.
I made the blooming image from the pc in question - so it must have the stupid drivers.
So I've been tralling forums and websites and trying out suggestions trying to get this going.
It's not fun I tell ya. It's the sort of thing I might expect from a Linux distro (took me almost this long to install an AVI player on Fedora the first time) but not from a Microsoft service. It's supposed to be easier than this guys!
And the picture? Well - all this effort is making Frodo's journey to Mordor look rather tame. Just kidding, but thats what it feels like.

Xbox ArrivesjawaproTue 23/10/2007 08:21 PM
Well - my X-box arrived last night. Quite exciting.
Unfourtuantly no games came with it - so the excitment didnt really last long. I've got some games comming - they just havent arrived yet.
It does have a demo of Project Gotham Racing 3 (apparently I'm getting PGR 4 soon, along with DoA 4 - thanks MS!). But only a few cars and 2 tracks - so that didnt last long.
So I went across the river into town to the local video shop to try and rent a game (far out they're expensive!) and discovered I couldnt sign up for a video card because all my id has my old address. So now I'm trying to snipe a copy of Oblivion on ebay. But still no games to play for a while.
But at least there's an Xbox on my floor now - something to show for the days spent making the lego movie.

The Vespa ArrivesjawaproMon 22/10/2007 08:29 AM
On Saturday Dad and I went to Shearwater Motorcycles and finally collected the Vespa I won ages ago in the Microsoft competition.
Michael (my old boss) is buying the Vespa from me (I have more use of the money than the bike) and he came through when we collected it too. I had $1000 as part of the prize to spend at the shop, so Michael bought himself a helmet, jacket, gloves, top-box, etc. He's going to pay me back for them.
And I bought myself a couple of Havoc videos, and a Vespa keyring.
And when we got the Vespa back to my parents place, I took it for a little spin. I dont have a bike licence, so I could only drive around the yard - but at least I can say I've ridden it now.

Star Wars DVDs - FINALLY!jawaproThu 18/10/2007 09:42 PM
Ok - now this is a little embaressing - but I havent previously owned the Original Trillogy of Star Wars. I've loved the series - but I've only ever borrowed them from friends. And always on VHS - never on DVD.
So I've finally managed to rectify that problem. I now own the original Saga on DVD!
It was on special at the online ezydvd shop ($50) so I placed and order (I also got King Arthur, and the 13th Warrior).
And so finally I can stop being embaressed, and say I own Star Wars on DVD. I already owned ep 2 and 3 - but that's besides the point. These are the REAL Star Wars movies.
