The Arrival of the Evil Lord Macintosh

Ever since I wrote my blog about King William Gates and the war against the Evil Lord Macintosh, I've been asked time and time again - what does Macintosh look like?

Well - maybe not. But I could have been asked that. Because although he's mentioned in the post - you never see him.

And the simple reason is that I didnt have any lego soldiers that would suit.

But now that I'm turning it into an animated video - I needed some figures - so off to bricklink.com I went. Buying lego like this isnt cheap - but hopefully it will make Macintosh and his army distinctive.

So here you have Macintosh (black Helmet), Ivor Podrick (silver helmet) and their army (the skeletons).

Stay tuned to see them in action.

Melbourne Bound

Well - I'm on my way to Melbourne for work again.

And the forecast is for gale force winds. Hope I dont get seasick. I had a big tea (work pays) so we'll wait and see.

Unfourtuantly, this means I'll have lost 2 evenings to work on my lego animation - but my boss has said I can take half of Wednesday to compensate. So thats not too bad. And Microsoft said they could give me a couple of extra days if I need them too.

And I think this trip will bring my total of work trips to about the same as my total of non-work trips to the mainland. Not that I get past the wharf when I travel for work though :)

First Lego Animation Test

Well - busy night. First had to do some judging for the ACE Student Convention, and then build myself a Robin Hood Castle, ready for the animation.

And then I took a heap of photos and quickly put it together into a animation test. Man I suck at this - but ah well. Hopefully I'll get much better frame rates by the time I do it for real.

Return of the Lego King

Ahoy there me hearties!

It's still Talk Like a Pirate Day - but I'm going to stop for a while, so I can tell you about my latest piece of news.

Remember early in the year when I posted my "A Tale they Wont Believe"? It was the Lego story that talked about King William Gates and his crusade against the Evil Lord Macintosh. Well - that story was part of a competition (http://www.itsnotcheating.com.au) and I won first prize (A Vespa scooter).

I havent actually collected the scooter yet (although I've seen it in the shop waiting) and am probably going to sell it to a mate.

But anyway - the story's not over yet.

I just got a call from a chick called Diana from Microsoft. Yes Turkeybrain and you other Linux fans, I'm getting calls from Microsoft!

Anyway - turns out the cheap office deal (that I blogged about and won the Vespa) is currently on in the States. It's called "The Ultimate Steal" over there - but they are planning on relaunching "Its not cheating" again. I'm not sure if that means the deal will be available back here - or if it's to promote the US/Canda and UK version. I think she said UK, might be wrong about that part.

Anyway - in order to promote the whole thing again - Microsoft want me to turn my "Tale They Wont Believe" into a video. They want it done in 2 weeks - so it's not going to be great stop-motion or anything like that - but I'll get something going.

Why?

Well - they said they'd give me an Xbox 360 for my effort.

I might not be a console man (I think I'll always prefer my PC) but if its free - there's no way I'd turn it down. Not as if playing with Lego is something I hate.

Anyone got any lego castle soldiers to add to my army for the epic movie?

So now I just have to rebuild my castles and start filming!

I know what I'll be doing tonight...
