What a month!jawaproMon 05/03/2012 11:48 PM
Tomorrow night is the monthly 4WD Club meeting. Thinking back to the previous one - it’s been one heck of a month!
- My house was invaded by an awesome bunch of geeks
- I bought another car
- I helped Turkey buy half a car
- We had some major overtime at work
- I went camping at Trial Harbour
- More overtime at work
- I entered another car rally
- Went to the 4wd Christmas BBQ in February
- Survived the Road to Nowhere
Ok - so maybe it doesn’t look so awesome in a list - but it felt pretty epic and has kept me run off my feet. Especially given the long hours at work.
And all the next month’s weekends are already fully booked too! Will things ever settle down?

Return to the West CoastjawaproFri 24/02/2012 12:13 PM
Turkeybrain wasn’t back at Uni yet - so wanted to head West again like we did last year. Well, apart from the part where his car got towed home last year anyway.
So we loaded up Oscar and Turk’s Laser and headed Westward. It was raining when we left - but by the time we reached the coast it was fantastic.
We camped at Trial Harbour again - and it’s a fantastic little spot.
We spent 4 days poking around the West Coast looking at old mining stuff etc. Zeehan and Tullah are both awesome little towns.
This little fella was at Tullah. A little past his prime - he is now just a decoration. They do still have a little engine that runs the circuit around the town - Wee Georgie Wood, but sadly he wasn’t running while we were there.
Some of the stuff at Zeehan. We spent hours in the museum there.
The old Iron Blow minesite at Queenstown.
The enterance to Climie’s Track. I haven’t been along the track in almost 20 years. It’s officially a no-through-road now, but that just means it’s pretty hairy. It’s enough to make Roothy and crew take things seriously - so you know it’s a fairly major track.
And we finally conquered the Road to Nowhere! Last year Turkey’s car broke down near the start, and I had to tow him out. This year we made it all the way through.
The trip was successful in other respects too - Turkey found and collected a body and a half for his Landrover while he was up here. Now he just needs to work out how to get it all home.

That makes five!jawaproSun 19/02/2012 01:20 PM
After a week of long hours at work (2.5 days overtime - wouldn't it be nice if I got paid overtime...) I celebrated by buying myself another G60.
That makes 5 now.
This one is really just some doors and panels - but comes with a rusting chassis to hold it all together until I get a chance to do something with it.
Now Turkeybrain and I are heading Westward for a road trip - hunting Landrovers, G60s, and Steam Engines!

In case it appears that I've dropped off the end of the world and am not replying to emails and messages etc - it's sort of because I have.
You see, this week is the annual NoSpoon invasion where Turkey and his mates come and invade my house for a week and we split our time between playing games and attempting to get other games to work.
Pictured above is Turks doing his 'superman' impression as he plugs his computer in behind the desk.
So as the games continue and the bullets fly - I'll be off the grid for a few days.
See you on the other side....
