Brickvention 2012 Royal WeddingjawaproTue 24/01/2012 10:28 PM
Everyone loves a Royal Wedding - especially if it’s made out of Lego!
The happy couple have a full escort.
Here they come!
Custom made bagpipes and drums!
Approaching the Palace.
The blurry snipers are keeping guard just in case.
This truly was one awesome model!

Brickvention 2012 QuidditchjawaproTue 24/01/2012 10:19 PM
This Quidditch display deserves it’s own post.
For those not in the know, Quidditch is a sport from the Harry Potter series that is played on broomsticks.
Just look at the sheer number of Hogwarts students in the stands!
It’s incredible!
Dumbledore watches from one of the towers.
Ron has taken Hermione on their first date and is about to crash his flying car into the field.
Harry and Draco are in a race for the Snitch.
Dobbie the house-elf has made a wrong turn and ended up on the playing field.
Meanwhile a streaker (probably Hufflepuff) is being pursued by Filch.
In a nearby display, Snape is down in the Potions Room teaching a lesson.
While students in the Great Hall are enjoying the daily feast.
And especially for my sister, Headwig the owl is hanging out at Hagrid’s hut with her friend Errol.

Welcome to Brickvention 2012 - possibly the single most epic weekend of the year. Once again it was in the Melbourne Town Hall - but this year the public day was split over 2 days, so things were less hectic and more enjoyable for all (except those who didn’t get tickets before it sold out - but tough!).
That’s the AFOLs! Adult Fans of Lego - the nerds, geeks, and collectors who put on the show. All lego on display is owned and built by fans - not the Lego company itself.
Anyway - without further ado - here are some of the models:
John Deer tractor
The Dish
Staircase from the Titanic
The Fellowship of the Ring
BumbleBee (standing on one of my baseplates)
A Truly awesome little pirate ship. Probably modelled on the Black Seas Barracuda.
Ballet Hall.
Just some of the trains on display.
Luna Park
Deploying Soldiers!
If you don’t recognise this - you aren’t geeky enough.
The Hyperion - the pride of Her Majesty’s flying Navy.
This year the Hyperion was escorted by a Destroyer (sorry - I forgot the name),
A flying submarine,
And the spotter blimp,
Ginny decided to take a trip in the Delorian from Back to the Future.
While Indiana Jones rescues Han Solo from the Ewoks.
We all live on a....
A massive AT-AT walker.
Mater (from cars) turned into a tank.
Government House in Victoria.
Wall-E and E.V.E.
A Space colony with a very impressive dome.
We all live in a.... hang on, didn’t we already do this?
Technic Road Train.
It’s Murray!
The underground.
Guess Who....
Did someone call?
These guys get insane detail into their train layouts.
We had Stormtroopers providing crowd control.
Aren't you a little short for a princess?
This was Max the minifig. When Max took his head off, SHE was very cute!
My Badge from this year.
That’ll do for now - but there are LOTS more photos that you can see here:

I've been exposed!jawaproSat 14/01/2012 02:58 PM
My cover has been compromised!
Remember a few months ago when I posted about my 'secret life' here http://www.headlessmoron.com/viewthread.php?postid=737. Well it lasted quite a while, but it's finally collapsed.
Jason eventually worked out that Chris was living here - after visiting us about 6 times! Not exactly Sherlock Holmes there Jason...
But that's not the only thing he rumbled. After a couple of times where Chris almost let the cat out of the bag, it wasn't until Jason came to this website for some reason that he finally figured out that I owned Patrols.
Not that there was really any reason to keep it quiet - other than the fact that I enjoyed the fact that people didn't know. There are still quite a few friends around here who don't know - so I'm still going to keep it off Facebook. It's all over this website - so it'd be easy for them to find out - they just haven't yet.
Alas - my Patrol and room-mate secrets are out, but my identity as a Russian spy remains a tightly kept secret though...

Walk Off The EarthjawaproWed 11/01/2012 01:59 PM
How many Canadians does it take to play a guitar? Yep - all 5 are all playing the same guitar at once!
Last year Gotye released the song "Somebody that I used to know" which was awesome and is widly expected to take out the Tripple J's Hottest 100 which airs on Australia Day. It's an awesome song, which has managed to cross over from the indi scene to the mainstream - which is great, because it means that my mainstream friends can finally get to hear some good music for once.
Gotye had a pretty epic video himself (http://youtu.be/8UVNT4wvIGY) but this post is actually about a cover of the song.
A Canadian bank called "Walk Off The Earth" have released an absolutely epic cover. As mentioned above, they are all playing the same guitar!
If you like the original, you'll love this. And if you havent heard the original - give them both a whirl. Far better than the Lady Gaga rubbish that ends up on the mainstream radio most of the time.
