NASA is going to bomb the moon!jawaproFri 09/10/2009 08:38 PM
In a couple of hours time - NASA is going to bomb the moon.
Why?
To see if there’s water on it.
Why?
Well given the recent rise in our water bills in Tassie, they decided it might be cheaper to import Lunar stuff.
Seriously though - NASA are about to deliberately crash a spaceship/satellite/boom-maker into the moon's south pole to see if it splashes. Wouldn’t it be embarrassing if they missed?
More serious coverage can be found here:

And all over the web if you want to do a search.

Neptune joins the Lego ClubjawaproThu 08/10/2009 10:09 PM
My cat "Neptune Velysia Sniffers" is now an offical member of the Australian Lego Club. Seriously....
Back when I bought the Space Police stuff from BigW, they had a deal where you'd get a free membership if you spent more than $20. Well - I spent a fair bit more than that, so I thought I'd make use of the deal. I'd have given it to my mate Clancy except there was only a day or two left to sign up before the deal expired.
So I signed up on Neptune's behalf. To save confusion for the postman, I signed up under the name Velysia Kingston - as the Kingston part would help them out, and the name Velysia is wierd enough to be a valid person's name - Neptune sounds like a pet, and Lego might think it's a little odd.
I actually thought I'd missed the deadline to get the application in - but today in the post, along comes his first ever lego Club magazine.
And for those who wondered - the only reason to sign up for the club is that you get the catalouges sent to you - the rest is pointless. Now my cat will get a catalouge!

Mountain Stages RallyjawaproMon 05/10/2009 09:58 PM
Not a bad way to spend a Saturday.
Dad and I went up the back of Ben Lomond to watch the Mountain Stages Rally. My mate Tim was competing again in his Evo.
The dust was insane - but the spectating was good. We found a couple of pretty sweet spots too.
This horse-shoe is at the bottom of a downhill stretch, so was quite exciting. So much for Aussie rallies being so strict - we were jolly close to the cars as they came down here. I thought Aussie rallies were far stricter than European ones about where you can be - but maybe not as much as I thought.
Tim had a better rally this time than the previous two (he finished!). He was doing very well until his brakes wore out and he ended up with a puncture. He was still pretty happy with the way the rally had gone though. Don’t know the final results yet though.

Universe Starts TonightjawaproFri 02/10/2009 08:27 PM
Stargate Universe starts tonight in the States!
Thanks to the wonder of the Internet, we should be seeing it not long after.
Lets hope that the new Stargate meets Battlestar Galactica formula works. The trailer has me quite excited (interestingly, it hasn't appealed to the rest of my family). We'll have to wait and see how it goes...

Eggs...jawaproFri 02/10/2009 03:46 PM
No comments on my pirate ship? That's sad. At least I think it's cool...
Anyway - I'm not a big fan of eggs, but occasionally I decide to buy some. Normally I just crack them into a pan and cook them like that - but this week I decided to be adventurous and try boiling an egg. Had to look instructions up on the net to work out how long - but now I can offically say I can boil an egg. This cooking lark isn't that hard after all...
