Coke Can vs the SunjawaproThu 21/02/2008 09:59 PM
Just for interests sake - the can on the right shows what happens if you leave a can of coke in your car on a hot sunny day.
Personally - I think the best solution would be to outlaw hot sunny days completely.

I bought a house.... really!jawaproTue 19/02/2008 10:36 PM
Yes - it's true. I am now a landowner.
Well, not quite. I have to get a home-loan and things sorted. But I made an offer, and it was accepted (which makes me think I should have gone lower).
It's a nice little place over the river in the main part of Devonport. Currently tenated, and we might let them stay for a while, not sure yet.
Its only small - but everything is really nice. The kitchen and bathroom seem to have been done up not long ago. You can drive into the back yard easily, so lots of room to park cars (I didnt want anywhere with only one car space). There isnt any garage/carport yet, but we'll fix that in time.
The front yard is really boring - but with some plants, and maybe a wooden dinosaur skeleton or something to liven the place up, that will change too.
The really scary thing is that in some ways this feels less real than the new computer I'm also buying at the moment.
I cant wait until I live in my own place though - I'll finally be able to put an air-con unit in!

Buying stuffjawaproMon 18/02/2008 01:13 PM
Well, apart from the game announcements that have made up the previous posts, I've spent a lot of time this week looking at stuff to buy.
I'm upgrading my computer - so that means trawling around the net digging up specs and reviews on hardware, and listening to friend's advice (wich often contradicts) and trying to decide what to purchase.
Well - I just sent an order to ItEstate.com.au, on behalf of myself and some of my friends. The order is over $2500! But a lot of that isnt mine.
ItEstate is a shop with good prices, but they just rang me up because half the stuff isnt in stock and they want to know about replacing it with other brands etc. But unfourtunatly most of the other stuff isnt mine, so I have to wait until I contact my friends before I can let them know what to do.
Stupid - if it's not in stock, dont advertise it!
I've only ordered half my computer so far - I'm waiting until the new Intel CPU comes out before deciding on CPU/motherboard and RAM. The case, psu, harddrives, graphics card, and dvd drive are all either here or on their way though.
And I'm looking at buying a few other odds and ends as well. A large screen TV, and a house, and other nick-nacks like that.

Red Alert 3jawaproFri 15/02/2008 09:51 AM
WOW!
It was only this week I posted about the new Tiberium game - and now I have even bigger news.
I just got my official C&C newsletter, and lo and behold - Red Alert 3 has just been announced.
"Welcome Back Comrade".
This time it's Allies vs Soviets. But there's a third side, the Empire of the Rising Sun (which I assume is Japan).
EA might not produce games as good as Westwood - but they certainly produce more of them.
It'll be a while before it comes out - and people who buy Kane's Wrath are supposed to get a code which allows them to join the Beta Testing. I cant wait!

Mass Effect for PCjawaproWed 13/02/2008 10:45 AM
Great news PC-fans. The game "Mass Effect" has just been announced for the PC. It's due out in May (birthday ideas anyone?).
Mass Effect is an RPG (role playing game) that was originaly released as an Xbox exclusive game. And from what I've seen - its a blooming sweet game.
It's from the guys who brought us KOTOR, and the Baulder's Gate series. So you know they know what they're doing in an RPG.
So why havent I bought a copy yet? I own an Xbox 360 and everything.
Well - I dont like playing games on my xbox half as much as my PC. So I've been holding off and hoping it'll come out on PC. And as of yesterday, it's been announced officially that it will.
Just a few more months to wait.
