Birthday LAN PartyjawaproSat 22/11/2008 06:06 PM
That is probably the most stuff I’ve ever taken to a LAN. Maybe not the largest number of individual pieces (I used to cart an insane number of items in bags before I got the crate) but definatly the largest amount of actual gear etc.
My friend James was having a LAN as a birthday party. Now, James comes from a Mac family – and didn’t have enough PCs (or Windows Macs) for everyone – so I bought my own PC (Phaeton) plus 2 more (Jadesfire and Klutz’s Optimus).
The good news is that it was a Friday night LAN – so I could stay properly late. Unlike the Saturday night Axon LANs.
We played a lot of Farcry – which is great fun in the assault modes. Less fun when one of your team mates decides to kill his team to steal the vehicles which he then crashes into the ocean (Zeke!). We also played a little UT (my Towers of Pain maps got a look in!) and Flatout – but it was mainly a Farcry LAN.
I’d never played Multiplayer Farcry other than the legendary “Road to Raiders” map Henry made. The assault mode is pretty awesome though – and I think I’ll be playing it again. Though I probably won’t be on Zeke’s team.
I ended up calling it a night at about 7 (in the morning). Some of the others had already flaked out and gone to sleep – but I decided I’d play for as long as I could, and then go home to sleep during the day on Saturday. Packing up three computers takes a lot more effort when you’re tired – but I managed somehow.
It was a pretty awesome LAN – with no LEECHING! It’s been ages since I’ve been to a LAN where people don’t Leech – and I love it! Solid gameplay beats leeching anytime.
So thanks for the invite James, and Happy Birthday mate!

Bad Hiding PlacejawaproThu 20/11/2008 04:31 PM
Someone should probably tell Neptune that hiding under a door mat is a bit on the dangerous side. I might not always be paying attention.

Website UpdatejawaproWed 19/11/2008 06:16 PM
Here's a breif update for people who might be wondering.
Parts of my website still arn't working after the crash.
- Some of my CSS formatting isn't working properly.
- Emails arn't being sent (so I don't know when someone replies)
- My other domains all point here instead of their own sections
- Posting comments/blogs still kills the background
- And some other odds and ends.
Currently I'm in negotiations with Klutz and Turkeybrain about wether we want to set up our own Web Server. Until we decide that, I probably won't try too hard to fix this one. In the mean time - if there are any problems that you feel are worth telling me about - you can let me know. My email is my username at Gmail.com.

Michael Crichton and Don S. DavisjawaproWed 19/11/2008 06:09 PM
Sad news:
Michael Crichton has passed away. This happened a week or so ago, but my site was down so I couldn't report it.
For those who don't know - Michael Crichton has written some of my favorite books including Jurassic Park, Timeline, Prey, and Eaters of the Dead. These are all brilliant books.
Today I learnt that he wasn't the only person to bow out either. Don. S. Davis passed away as well. He's probably better known to you as General George Hammond (or Hammond of Texas) from StarGate.
Sad times indeed.

The Klutz heads Northwards...jawaproMon 17/11/2008 07:58 PM
Well - the uni year has been and gone - so Klutz is headed back north to Mount Isa for the Christmas break.
Time to catch up with his family - and hopefully get a job so he won't be totally broke when Uni starts again next year.
So his car (The Shopping Trolley) is living at my folks place, and his computer (Optimus) is living at mine.
Have a good trip mate!
Note: The photo is of Klutz attempting to play Portal.
