Finally – my website is back.

It’s amazing how often you want to blog when you can’t.

Anyway – brief recap.

Nearly 2 weeks ago – my website stopped responding. I wasn’t sure why – but eventually discovered that my host (www.worldgenhosting.net) had gone down too. That wasn’t a good sign.

I couldn’t email them – because their domains were down (including email) but thankfully I did have a direct email to a guy called Wes who happens to pretty much own WorldGen. Very glad I had that.

After much trying – I eventually managed to get some info out of Wes. Turns out they were upgrading their server, and it screwed up, so they lost everything. Very nasty. I shudder to think what their other customers would be saying – especially if they are running businesses from the websites.

Anyway – Wes was able to get my files back – which was a start. Unfourtuantly they only recovered a very small portion of my databases. This meant I’d lost all my Blog posts, comments, etc since my last backup (about a year ago). True – I should back it up more often – but I sort of figured that my host would have backups.

Even more annoying – SiteB was gone entirely. Most of you don’t know what Site B is yet but it’s a project that I’d been working on – and entered a LOT of data into. And it was gone!

But today Wes managed to work some magic – and my databases have returned.

There are still issues with my other websites – but hopefully they’ll be sorted as time goes on.

I’ll defiantly be backing up my databases more often.

In other news – I went to visit my sister for her birthday, Klutz can to visit me because he could, I went to see Death Race with some guys from DORKS (plus Klutz), my parents bought a new PC, and I finally got a copy of Red Alert 3.

RA3 is brilliant. As other people have said – with this game, who needs sleep?

Sadly – I do. Especially after staying up late with Klutz last night.
