Brixhibition North 2013 - TimelapsejawaproWed 24/04/2013 07:31 PM
As normal, I took some timelapse of the Lego expo.

Gives you some idea of the crowds we got. On Sunday there was a queue out the door - felt like a smaller version of an early Brickvention.

Brixhibition North 2013jawaproWed 24/04/2013 07:28 PM
In the midst of everything else that happened this week - there was also a very successful Lego expo. This time it was held in Launceston (first time) as Brixhibition North 2013.
This was also the first expo with Ken - who awed us all with his excellent buildings. Hope to see a lot more of these!
Brendan and I scored the middle of the room - he had his Star Wars and Monster Fighter displays - and I had my collection of odds and ends.
Another of Ken’s masterpieces.
Brent’s city display.
Once again we scattered my 3 Where’s Wally figures around the displays. This one had a slight run-in with the law.
It was a great show, and proved that Launceston can host a successful event - so expect to see more in the future.

Saying Goodbye to Grandma...jawaproMon 22/04/2013 08:18 PM
"When the going gets tough, the tough get going to Grandmas" - a fridge magnet on my parent’s fridge.
This has been a tough week.
Grandma Kerrison (although technically now a Jamieson since she married Pete, but always Grandma Kerrison to us) went into hospital on Monday morning.
We all knew she wouldn’t recover - her kidneys were failing. So we gathered to... well, say goodbye. I spent most of Tuesday in St Helens with her and the rest of the family. We might not have said much - but just to be there with her.
Pastor came up on Tuesday too and prayed with us all - and although Grandma wasn’t able to talk much, they were quoting the end of Romans 8 together. I don’t know about anyone else - but I found that really comforting.
Grandma passed away on Wednesday night.
In just over a month it will be 10 years since Grandpa passed away. They are together again now.
It’s been a messed-up week. I’ve only worked 3 days since last weekend (it’s Monday again now), and the funeral is tomorrow. We’ve had all the family gather from across the country (and beyond). In the middle of it all was a Lego expo that I’d committed to. So it’s been a tough and busy week.
It’s true that Grandma wasn’t always the easiest person to get along with (perhaps that’s an understatement) - but she was still my Grandma, and I’ll miss her.

Of Monsters and Men (and Obelix)jawaproMon 08/04/2013 11:59 PM
Another trip to Melbourne - another trip to J-B Hi-Fi (we really need to get one of those in Launceston or Devonport!). This time I picked up the awesome "Of Monsters and Men" album.
I have had a slightly less than legal copy for a while (since before they went mainstream) but loved it so much I wanted to actually own the album as well. Since I already had the MP3s and CDs are boring - I bought it on Vinyl - of course :)
I only have a smallish Vinyl collection - but I'm quite proud of it.
And yes, I do have a turntable - two, in fact.
And Obelix? Well this fine chap came all the way from France thanks to my awesome cousin Mike/Oblivion. Thanks again mate!
