Snowplows and Steam-rollers...jawaproMon 08/07/2013 07:06 PM
^ My friends spent Saturday playing in the snow on a mission to Lake McKenzie - but I soldiered on with the much less interesting Shed work. (with awesome assistance from my parents and sister.)
Saturday was about gravel and landscaping that needed to be done before the shed got put up (or would have been difficult afterwards). The side of the shed looks quite nice with the rocks we put down. This should slow the weeds down and allow it to drain. If the weeds get too out of control - my neighbor comes over and weeds them to stop them growing into her garden - which is slightly embarrassing.
And the parking area behind the shed is nice and graveled now too.
Instead of pretending to be a snow-plow, Oscar the Pajero spent the day pretending to be a steam-roller.
Now I just need to get the shed erector dudes in to put the actual thing up!
I also need to plan a trip to South Australia.... http://www.rmp-o.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=4330

An Awesome Saturday in the BushjawaproMon 01/07/2013 09:32 PM
I spent Saturday with the 4wd club having a ball in the bush. We had a convoy of about 9 Toyotas and one Patrol (pictured here bogged).
I spent the day as a passenger in this awesome shorty cruiser. Now I’m a Patrol man - but this thing was a beast! If I was buying a cruiser - it’d have to be one of these!
It wasn’t the only shorty 40 series on the trip either - here’s the other one.
Even the mighty cruiser from North West Offroad got stuck here - bogged on a log at the bottom of a very slippery bank.
Nice shallow river-crossing.
The mighty Patrol - bogged again...
Getting a little assistance.
The Patrol again - this time with a broken CV joint. Not a great showing for Patrols here...
The other CV snapped shortly afterwards - and the Patrol had to winch itself up a nasty hill just to get home.
The Patrol got up the hill eventually (as did we all) - but this cruiser didn’t manage it without injury.
My awesome ride for the day powering up the hill (which really doesn’t look at all steep in the photo - but it was. Trust me, I walked up it).
And just for interest sake - an old steam-powered sawmill that was just off the track. Without some local knowledge, we’d have just driven straight past.
Thanks for an awesome day fellas - looking forward to the next one!

Lego sale haul...jawaproThu 27/06/2013 11:32 PM
My haul from the Myer toy sale.
That's 2 of the new bullet trains, 1 helicopter, and 1 tanker.
Toy sale season is awesome - saved about $100 - as I'd have bought it all eventually anyway.
And apparently 'orange' is the new cool colour at Lego.

I have a slab...jawaproTue 25/06/2013 10:19 AM
Ok - now THAT's a pump! A concrete pump to be exact. When they talked about bringing in a pump, I was expecting something at ground level - I didn't realize it'd go over my roof!
The cement mixer pours the mixture into the back, the pump sends it over my roof...
And straight to where it is needed. Even my massive holes took hardly any time to fill like this.
Then you hit the concrete with a vibrator thing that turns it into fluid and helps it settle (which is quite awesome to watch). Goes from a lumpy solid consistency to a fluid almost instantly.
Then comes the fun part - where the builders level off the slab.
Next we had to wait for it to set a bit before they could use the helicopter to smooth it out. I had to go to work - so this was the last I saw of the process yesterday.
But now it's daylight again and I can see the finished product. I have a slab! It's probably ok to walk on - but I'll give it another day just to make sure.

It's Pouring....jawaproMon 24/06/2013 10:02 AM
It's freezing, there's still frost on the ground, and we're concreting!
By the end of the day I should have a slab!
Finally!
