Happy New Year!

Well - time to say goodbye to another year, and celebrate the start of another.

Or at least celebrate the start of the Dakar Rally (starts on the 1st).

So in the celebratory spirit - here are a couple of presents for you all.

I went into town yesterday to buy some CDs I didn’t get for Christmas (lol) but the shop only had the Kasey Chambers one, so I’ve ordered the other two in. I know some of my readers don’t think much of Kasey, but here’s some music you probably haven't heard before.

Boy & Bear - Rabbit Song

Also known as the whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo band, because they do a lot of that. The song’s cool- and the filmclip is awesome (but very simple).

Georgia Fair - Times Fly

Ok - this one is fantastic. The Boy & Bear one above is good, but this one is brilliant. The song is just awesome, and so is the filmclip in an odd sort of way.

Might not appeal to everyone’s taste in music - but I think it’s great.

So there you have it - two Australian bands you’ve probably never heard of. I wouldn’t have either, except they were both supporting Lisa Mitchell in her tour. Go Aussie music! I just wish the local radio station would play some of this stuff instead of the imported pop junk they play. Sadly the radio won’t pick up Triple-J anymore.

Can’t get enough of ‘Times Fly’ though.

The Veylesian Shipyards are in full swing. By Brickvention, my Swarm Fighter will have a posse! A Swarm Fighter without a swarm is a little pointless, but these guys will soon be swarming together...

Minecraft Tragedy

Tragedy struck today in the Kingdom of Nospoon in the land of Minecraft.

What started as a peaceful protest escalated and resulted in the death of one Vaultist, and unconfirmed reports that it also took the lives of one cow, two pigs, and a duck.

The ruling class of Nospoon, the Elite Vaultists have been restricting the use of Warp Technology in the lands. The Vaultists only allow warping to their Holy Vault, while the Independents wish to be able to warp to other locations, such as their castles.

The Holy Vault was created using obscene cheats to create an impossible structure. While the structure itself is a cheat, and the use of warps to the inner sanctums are also cheats, the creators of the Vault claim that it is good and pure, but any other warps are cheating and therefore not permitted.

As a move of protest, some of the Independents blockaded one of the outlying Vault structures with TNT. This highly dangerous substance can only be removed by cheating - which was designed to highlight how the Vaultists will only allow this behaviour when it suits their own purposes.

Unfortunately while obtaining this photo, the Vaultist Turkeybrain accidentally triggered the TNT and blew himself and the whole outlying structure entrance to pieces.

^ The aftermath of the explosion.

Although Turkeybrain died in the explosion, he has made a swift recovery and is once again active in the world of Minecraft.

The outlying structure was an entrance to an underground cavern, and has since been repaired.

Wether these events will swing sympathy to the Vaultist Elites, or be a catalyst that causes the Independents to unite and overthrow the Vaultist domination of Warp Control remains to be seen.

We’ll keep you posted.

The Invasion

Team NoSpoon.

They came, they saw, they fragged.

It was that time of year again - Turkey’s mates invaded Devonport.

Fortunately, as we’re a bunch of geeks, Devonport hardly noticed, except for a drain on the power grid and two raids on the supermarket. But inside my house - it was a different story.

Between 7 and 8 geeks and computers (depending on the day in question) is a lot of fun. It’s about as much as my house can handle. Sames goes for Neptune too.

It was an awesome week. I only had 3 days off work - but it was a blast!

This time most of our time was spent playing Minecraft - which is truly awesome, but impossible to explain. There was also some L4D, CoDMW, Flatout, failed attempts to start AoE, and random Nerf shootouts. Basically what you’d expect when you jam a house full of geeks.

You gotta admire their ingenuity though. Single best excuse to skip the washing up ever - kill the hot water system!

Ok - so they went and got a new fuse for it, but it meant there was no water when they left so it was up to me. Well played guys - but I’ll get you eventually...
