Oscars Shuddering Update

Ok - well the good news is that we’ve work out why Oscar has been shuddering!

See that round piece of metal hanging on that drive shaft there? It used to be a bearing.

 Image

Yep - those are ball bearings in there....

Sadly - these bearings don’t seem to be very common. Both Metro and Repco were scratching their heads when we went to order replacements. Might have to go and talk to Mitsubishi themselves and see how extreme their charges would be for the bearing kit.

But at least we know what was causing the issue - that’s a relief.

A woman in the United States of Appledom is complaining because she bought an iPad from a couple of thugs and it turned out to be made from wood. She didn't realise until she got it home after giving them $168 for it at a McDonalds resturant.

You should never buy fruit from Maccas - stick with the burgers! Buy fruit from a fruit shop.

Lol - personally I think I'd rather the wooden version of the iPad than the real thing anyway. It'd burn better.

For the unbiased version of the story - go here:  http://www.theage.com.au/digital-life/tablets/tricked-into-buying-wooden-ipad-scammers-swindle-168-from-us-woman-20110901-1jmp7.html

I have one hundred trillion dollars! Pity it’s only Zimbabwean dollars from their period of hyper-inflation. It cost me $5 on ebay, which is far more than the note was actually worth in Zimbabwe when it was in circulation. People used Zimbabwean money as toilet paper - it was so worthless! Should serve as a warning for governments (looking at you, America) that printing lots of money doesn’t do much apart from sending inflation into overdrive. You can’t print your way out of recession.

After living very cheaply the last few weeks - I’m spoiling myself this week buying some luxuries - like food etc. I spent one fortnight in ‘savings mode’ where I didn’t spend anything I could avoid and banked the remainder, and one fortnight that was even tighter because I was paying my power bill (ouch!).

This fortnight is a bit looser and I’ve treated myself by placing an order with Café Press for some cool nerdy stuff. If only there weren’t so much awesome junk in the world - I’d have a lot more money :)

Chris is going to be flat out saving his coins too - as his car didn’t make it through the weekend and he’s on the lookout  for a replacement engine. He’s had to borrow Oscar to get to and from work - which is ok as he’s done some work on it and fixed the leaking power steering. If he can work out why it’s shuddering occasionally that’d be a bonus too! I just have to keep him away from any bodies of water he might want to drive into.

Ah well, I can’t complain - at least I have a Hundred Trillian Dollars to my name - even if it’s not worth anything.

Blast from the past!

Back in 2006 the two biggest things in my life were "Project" and "Graphics" - the two most challenging units in a Utas Computing Degree.

Well - last night I found my final Graphics Assignment - "The Defence of Rimble" again. It's been on this website before - but I decided to upload it to youtube to make it easier to watch.

So for anyone who hasn't seen it before - here is the "Defence of Rimble".

http://www.youtube.com/jawapro#p/a/u/0/qvwZe-aLR4A

I should point out that it doesnt look very impressive - but it was done in CODE. Not a graphics program - but C++ code.

Remember that little red 4x4 I stuck on my letter box a while ago (http://www.headlessmoron.com/viewthread.php?postid=735)?

Well - someone has stolen it.

I thought that might happen - which is why I put the dodgey truck up there instead of one I like more.

I'm still thinking about putting another one on the letterbox - but if I do, I'll secure it better this time.
