Stuff from the PostjawaproFri 18/07/2008 11:10 PM
Big day at the post office today.
1 Asterix and Obelix comic from eBay.
1 set of lego from Bricklink (still working on completing my sets). Includes some lego catalouges - one old, one from this year.
5 Star Wars books from Booktopia.
Strangely - the guys in the post office still have to ask me for my PO box number - you'd think they'd have it memorized by now.

Starcraft NightsjawaproThu 17/07/2008 10:20 PM
Aside from watching Scrapheap challenge every evening (ABC2 6:35-7:30) the other thing I've been doing a lot of this week is playing Starcraft. Yep, blame Starcraft for the lack of posts this week (and for the 3 in a row to catch up).
Starcraft 2 is being release soon - so I decided I wanted to finish the original before it comes out. So that's what I've been working on. Currently on the last phase - the Zerg missions in Brood Wars (the expansion pack).
It's not a bad game. It's still not one of my favorites, but it's worth playing. Sometimes I end up playing something I dont really enjoy just to see how the story ends - but this one has a decentish story and some good gameplay, so it's quite enjoyable.
But it IS a game from 1998. That's old in computer game terms. If it were a movie, it would probably still be black and white etc.
It's not exactly taxing the awesome power of Phaeton - lets put it that way.
And contry to what Martha seems to think - I dont spend my evenings ball-room dancing with my computers (she's a American and has some rather odd ideas sometimes) - I spend my evenings taking war to the insidious Zerg! Remember Tassadar!

Neptune UpdatejawaproThu 17/07/2008 10:10 PM
For those of you who have been waiting to hear how Neptune is doing - he's doing pretty well.
He's settled down and seems to be pretty happy most of the time now.
I'm not sure if he's drinking enough though. He never seems to drink his water - but always drinks anything thats in the bottom of the bath after I have a shower. He actually sits in the bath and asks me to run some water for him to drink sometimes. Not sure why he dosnt drink the stuff in his bowel (and yes, I have changed it a time or two in case it was stale etc).
He also has taken to trying to escape everytime I open the door to go outside. He doesnt seem to realise that he's supposed to be an inside cat. Once he's outside, he doesn't go very far, so it's been easy to catch him and bring him back each time - but I think he's getting braver. I might have to come up with a better way of stopping him getting out.
But other than that, we're doing fine.

Late Birthday PresentsjawaproThu 17/07/2008 10:01 PM
That there is apparently the key for the Tardis. It was a present from Terreth, (my pastor) and his family. Terreth is a Yank who had never seen Dr Who before coming to Australia, and has since gotten slightly hooked (blew his download limit on Dr Who youtube episodes).
He saw the key on the net, and bought it for me. Sadly I didnt recognize it when I opened it. The Tardis started out with a normal door key style key when the show first started, and then changed to this style, and then went back to a normal style. I've mainly seen the normal style - so I didnt pick this until my Mum recognized it. It's got the constalations of Gallifrey on the back - I should have known!
And that's not all either - Mike (Oblivion) and family had been promising me something too - and finally sent it. A small collection of Star Wars stuff and some dinosaur Z-cards. Thanks Mike!
Unless anyone else has something up their sleeve, I expect that my Birthday is now officially finished.

Brief UpdatejawaproFri 11/07/2008 08:27 PM
It's been a pretty good week. Emma was up for most of it - and helped me get Neptune (my cat) all settled in. He's doing great, even if he's a little confused and nervouse about the washing machine. Wait until he meets the clothes dryer!
Emma said we looked like a pair of slobs in the above photo. I think he'll fit right in.
In other news - I got another lego order from Bricklink. This one came all the way from Austria - because I wanted a particular technic dude (the Borg one). This means I'm very close to finishing off all my lego sets. Unfourtuantly the bits I still need are less common, so it might still mean a couple of orders from different people.
I also finally put a new graphics card in JadesFire. She was overheating when I played any games - which is part of the reason why I bought Phaeton. But I was still using it as a media centre - and it was slowely getting worse. Now it over-heats just watching divx files.
I bought a 8400 Geforce a while back for $30 and finally got around to installing it. Hopefully that will solve the problems.
And excitingly - I finally got some RAM back from pccasegear. I love ordering from them - its so easy. But their support sucks. Took over a month to get my RAM back (it was faulty). I still have 2 sticks to get replaced - hopefully it wont take so long this time. Apparently my warrenty return just got overlooked - but thats not a good excuse.
And for the 4th time running, my weekend LAN at MartianLeader's has been put on hold. Eventually it might actually happen.....
