Neptune Update

For those of you who have been waiting to hear how Neptune is doing - he's doing pretty well.

He's settled down and seems to be pretty happy most of the time now.

I'm not sure if he's drinking enough though. He never seems to drink his water - but always drinks anything thats in the bottom of the bath after I have a shower. He actually sits in the bath and asks me to run some water for him to drink sometimes. Not sure why he dosnt drink the stuff in his bowel (and yes, I have changed it a time or two in case it was stale etc).

He also has taken to trying to escape everytime I open the door to go outside. He doesnt seem to realise that he's supposed to be an inside cat. Once he's outside, he doesn't go very far, so it's been easy to catch him and bring him back each time - but I think he's getting braver. I might have to come up with a better way of stopping him getting out.

But other than that, we're doing fine.

I know how you feel about not being sure if your cat is getting enough to drink. We have had Buffy in the cattery a couple of times since we have been in Traralgon, and when she came home the first time she would not drink out of her bowl.(She still doesnt.) She would jump up onto the bathroom sink and wait for you to turn the tap on and then drink.(She still does.) I think it has something to do with smells of other cats and the still water. (Well, thats my theory.) Since Neptune came from the RSPCA shelter, he might have a similar hang up to Buffy.
