Wow - that was awesome!
Probably the best night out I’ve ever had.
I just got back from Mick Thomas’s gig at Red Hot Music in Devonport.
For those who don’t know, Mick Thomas was the lead singer from Weddings Parties Anything – which (for those who don’t know) is one of my favourite bands of all time.
The gig was a small one with only 150 tickets up for grabs, so you got to sit close and really get a kick out of the performance. They played some of his more recent stuff (including the current Last of the Tourists album) as well as a good selection from the WPA days.
The support act was Shelley Short who was also quite good - but it was certainly Mick’s show.
Listening to them belting out "A Tale They Won’t Believe" as a final encore was simply perfect.
I’ve also discovered that taking photos of concerts is very difficult - so I gave up and just enjoyed it (hence the stock photo above).
The actual concert - showing off my awesomely non-existent low-light photo skills.
