The Rescue of the Little Red Car...Author: jawapro

On the weekend, Chris (the mechanical cousin) decided to go down to Hobart to install the new engine in his Rodeo (which had been left in Hobart when it died). So off he went in his little red car with it's stealth gear and great hopes for the weekend. His plan was to leave the red car in Hobart and bring the Rodeo home.
Well - the little red car made it as far as Symmons Plains and then died.
As it was early in the morning on a Saturday and no one useful was awake (including yours truly) Chris decided to leave the car on the side of the road and hitch-hike down to Hobart.
He spent the weekend in Hobart and got the Rodeo going, but it still wasn't right. He took Monday off work and stayed a bit longer, but it now seems that the new engine has a cracked piston!
Doh - the Rodeo wasn't coming home yet after all....
So it was time to beg a lift up north from Steph - and yesterday we went to rescue the little red thing, as Chris was currently carless.
Well - it was good news, the red car was still there and hadn't been burnt out by hooligans or any of the other dastardly fates we'd imagined for it.
Even better news - we discovered the cause of the problem was a seized water pump, not a timing belt after all. Far easier to fix.
We arrived back in Perth in time to catch the petrol station before they quite closed their doors and convinced them to turn the pumps back on so we could fill up - but alas, there was no food to be had. Who shuts a truck stop by 8? That's tea-time! Apparently everyone between Perth and Devonport - that's who. Ah well - late tea when we got home.
So once again Oscar has come to the rescue.
*Note - the Rodeo isn't actually in Hobart, but it's somewhere in that area south of Oatlands that get's known as 'Hobart' to us Northerners.Comments: 1
