Have you read Tomorrow When the War Began? If not - you should. If you have, you should probably read it again. It’s fantastic.
John Marsden - easily the equal best Australian author (with Matthew Reilly) in the last 100 years, wrote a fantastic series of books that started with TWTWB. Officially known as the Tomorrow series, most people call it by the first book: Tomorrow When the War Began.
I only read them a few years ago, and I couldn’t put them down.
And starting tomorrow (Thurs) it is opening in cinemas as a movie. Good Australian movies are few and far between - but this one has serious potential, simply because of the story it’s based on.
Will this be the best Australian movie since The Man From Snowy River? Who can tell. But even if the movie sucks, you should read the books just to know what could have been. On the other hand, this may finally be the Australian movie we can be proud of. We’ll see…
So as soon as I can, I’ll be joining Ellie and her friends as they march out of Hell and into war.
