Stolen Car....

Well that was more excitement than I was expecting on a Sunday night....

I came home in my Pajero tonight (I'll post that story later) and as I pulled into my street there was a group of kids in hoodies walking up the street. I had to play car shuffle to get the Pajero behind the Subaru (which I'm using tomorrow) so I was coming and going a bit, but I saw the group walk past my house and then come back and up a driveway towards a group of units across the streets.

When I went back out to get the Subaru which I'd parked on the street for a minute - my neighbor from one of the units across the road came out asking if I'd seen anyone - because his car had just been stolen!

The cops turned up and I told them the little I'd seen. That could have so easily been my Subaru if I had been 10 minutes later getting home. This isn't one of the better neighbourhoods around - but thankfully I havent had any issues. I'll be praying it stays that way. Prayer - doesn't mean you wont have issues, but it's the best insurance you can get.

When I read the title I freaked out, but I'm very glad it wasn't your car. Even more glad it wasn't my car - I think that would be just about too much stress for me at the moment.

It was a good thing that you didn't leave keys in the Subie when you were car shuffling, it might have been too good to pass up.

3 out of 4 cars on our property have alarms/immobilisers. The other one doesn't have a radiator, water pump, rocker cover, electrics petrol tanks, fuel pumps, proper tyres, which is acutally somewhat more secure... Might be time to consider something like that...

That is, an alarm/immobiliser, not destruction for security's sake.
