Well - last night was a good night.

I had every intention of playing some RA3 and totally ignoring the Olypmics.

That changed with a phone call.

One of my friends (Tim) who I haven’t really talked to for ages rang me up and invited me over to his place to watch some movies and the Opening Ceremony.

So I went.

Caught up with a couple of guys I knew from Geneva, and watched a couple of movies.

After an argument about which movie was better, Serenity or Fifth Element (I was on Serenity's side) we watched Serenity because a lot of people hadn't seen it. I sooo love that movie - but it probably dosn't make as much sense if you haven't seen Firefly first.

Then we watched the Opening Ceremony for the Olympics. Lots of Chinese guys on drums tried to give the world an epileptic fit.

It was interesting - and especially fun to laugh at the guys who stuffed up (like going the wrong direction or forgetting to turn their lights on/off) but it was defiantly the low point of the evening. Both movies were better.

When the athletes started walking about, we talked about waiting to see Australia, but put a movie on instead. Good thing too - after the movie we still had to wait for them. Glad we didn’t sit through the whole thing.

The second movie was something I thought they called The Manchurian Utility. I'd never heard of it.

When they put the DVD in I realized I'd just misheard them, and it was called The Man Who Knew Too Little. I still hadn't seen it, and it's quite amusing.

Then we watched Australia march out to the Olympics followed by the Chinese - and then we gave up and started choosing another movie. I decided to bail out here, as I had things to do later in the day and could do with a little sleep before I tried.

So that was how I celebrated the 8th of the 8th in 2008. How about you?

My Uncle is in the Olympics, if you watched it all the way through you'd have seen him on it. i totally forgot about it and just watched movies all night.
I think i played timeshift actually.

Anyway my Uncle is Laurie Lever.
Its my Dads Brother anyway.

ohh aren't you smart then i watched the whole thing just to wait for Australia to come out ... even though i knew they were the third last to come out of the 204 countries haha ... also did you notice how every single Country Sign carrier looked the same i swear they were CLONES !!!!
