Yay - the harddrives arrived yesterday arvo. I waited until all the normal deliveries had been, but they still hadnt arrived, so I contacted ItEstate to complain. They checked with the courier company and told me that they box was currently in the courier's vehicle, and should arrive later that day.

And suprise suprise, they actually did!

Which is grand, because now I can take Turkey's stuff to camp and give it to him then. Otherwise he'd have to organize a way to get it down to Hobart.

7 Harddrives! A total of just under 3 Terrabytes (2910G to be exact). 3 of which are mine (1250G).

My new computer isnt going to be light. I never really expected it to be light, but it's going to be heavier than I was expecting. I've installed the PSU and Harddrives and Caddies and things - and it already weighs more than Klutz's complete PC, and it dosnt have half the hardware in it yet.

Hurry up Intel! I want my new CPU!

As you were all up in the air before in which you'd go for?

I'm back tomorrow by the way, so i'll wait till next week to pick up those hard drives from you. Maybe from the lan? I haven't registered yet. I'll do that during the week or something. I know i'm going with a  few freinds, so i'll meet you there no dout :)

I havent bought my CPU/Mobo/RAM yet. I'm waiting for the new Yorkfield Core 2 Quads to come out. They should be out by the 15th. But then again, they should have been out by the middle of this month too.

If they dont hurry up - I'll but a current model instead.

I'll need a mobo to go with it - and some RAM. Currently tossing up between expensive DDR3 (but its the future) or cheaper and probably better performing DDR2. I think I'll go DDR2 now, as DDR3 at the moment isnt good enough - and I'm not going to wait 6 months for it to improve.

yer ddr 3 isn't worth it. speeds arn't that much greater ether. Better to go for some ddr2 ram.

"The problem with DDR3 is that currently it is difficult to justify spending far more on DDR3-1333 modules than on low latency DDR2-1066 which will give you better overall performance. There is no question in my mind that DDR3 will surpass DDR2 in performance once DDR3-1600 and DDR3-2000 hit the market, but that time has not yet arrived."
