I decided to stay in Devonport this weekend, and went to church at Ulverstone. It’s very similar to our church, so I feel pretty comfortable there.
After church, I met up with Tim, Tom, James, Jason, Wes, Bec, and Ek and headed up to the snow at Lake McKenzie. A few of them had been last weekend, but enjoyed it enough to go back.
This time it was Tim’s Maverick, Jason’s Patrol, and my Pajero (Oscar). For the first time ever, I went on a trip with Jason, and I didn’t break anything! He did though - he was behind Tim’s car and Tim kicked up a rock and it hit Jason’s windscreen. The windscreen was intact, but seriously compromised with cracks running the full height of it.
At least it wasn’t me this time!!!
The road was slippery - but not challenging. Someone had taken a Hyundi Excel up there - so the 4wds weren’t really necessary.
That said - this guy needed some assistance. He’d been forced off the road by and oncoming vehicle and gotten stuck. The Jackaroo tried to pull him out, but it lost traction too - so Tim’s Maverick connected to him and the three-way recovery got underway.
When we got to the snow Tim and the others who’d been there before were disappointed as there was far less. But we still had some fun.
Sadly the snowboarding didn’t work as well as hoped.
As expected - it soon degenerated into a snowball war. (that white dot in the air is a snowball). Sadly I can’t throw for toffee.
During the war, Bec and Ek built snowmen. So much for supporting the cause!
As will all wars - the arms race soon saw traditional weapons being upgraded with more powerful versions.
I suggested putting a bit of snow on top of my car to see if it would make it back down to Devonport - but as always, Tim decided to take things to the extreme.
That’s a lot of snow! Thanks guys...
If it wasn’t for the roofracks, I think my roof would be dented.
Tim and Tom built snowmen simply to drive into them.
After missing the first time, Jim had a second attempt in the Maverick.
Wasn’t game to keep the snow up there for long, so we took it off again.
There was still enough snow to have a small snowfight at the Macdonalds carpark in Devonport when we got home again.
A very fun trip - but still nothing compared to the snow in Europe. Thanks heaps guys - especially to Bec and Ek who were brave enough to come along in Oscar.
