Summer and Stone Fruit

Summer seems to have arrived. Today was stupidly hot. Now, I’m sure people who like the heat would say it was only pleasant, but they are wrong. It’s far too warm to be ‘pleasant’.

Although the coming of Summer is something to dread as far as the weather goes - it does have it’s positives.

When I called into the supermarket to get some milk (for nice cold milkshakes) I noticed that stone fruit is available again!

As far as fruit goes - hardly anything can beat a good nectarine, peach, or apricot. The only thing that might be better are raspberries and blackberries.

Stone Fruit is still expensive at the moment, but that should improve as the season goes on.

So for a few minutes while drinking a ginger beer and enjoying a nectarine, I could forgive Summer for being so unbearable - but only for a few minutes.

Huh. Same up here in Victoria - stinking hot. And worse yet, we nearly had to do 90 minutes of PE in it! (We managed to only have to do 45)

It was 33 in town when I drove past the thermometer sign this arvo. Nice and cool at uni, but I had to cool down my house when I got home. Stupid house. An oven in summer and a freezer in winter.

I got excited when I saw the nectarines in the supermarket the other day, too.
