Axon - the showdown....

This Saturday was Axon! As always - a fantastic lan.

This time around the LAN was themed. Pirates vs Ninjas. Not many people got into the spirit of the theme though - there were about 2 half-hearted costumes in the huge 90 person turnout. I had a pirate flag though!

With 90 people, more than that computers (some people bring more than 1) and 2 large tvs for monitors - the power in the hall wasn't quite able to cut it. We had a few drop outs where a table or half a table fell into blackness for a while.

On the whole - it was a brilliant LAN though. Tip for the future though, take a MONITOR to a LAN, not a TV - right? Not even I would be that daft.

It's a Mac monitor - so you'd be killed by a dozen PC fanboys before you even got it plugged in - thus we wouldn't have a problem with power.

Axon are going to introduce a max screen size I think - which won't matter if it's a TV or dedicated monitor.

I dunno, so long as the power didn't drop out if I did I'd probably use a nice big LCD tv.... Everything would look pretty good. But yeah, that Mac monitor is not a good idea.

As much as I hate Apple, these monitors are seriously good stuff. They're the best monitors on the market for colour reproduction. Knowing how poor the screens are in all the macs ususally are, this is  HUGE surprise, but if you want the best screen on the market, I hate to say it, but that's it. Graphic designers/photographers have a need of screens like this.
