After being post-poned once thanks to me having to move house (how inconvienient of me!) we finally got a LAN at John's.

Much as I love the large LANs like Axon and Nexus (sadly missed) there is something about small lans that the bigger ones cant replicate.

Sure - you might get a lot more people playing in a game at a larger LAN - but its not as much fun.

This was a good sized lan. We have about 9 people in most of the games - which is a really good size. Enough to be fun - but small enough to be even more fun.

In a LAN this size, even if you dont know some of the people when you start, you will get to know them pretty quickly. And its far more fun to knock someone you know off the road in Flatout than it is to do it to some random stranger.

And then there's the banter. At a large LAN you could be halfway across the hall from your team-mates - but in a small room, everyone can be talking. Either trying to plan strategies in shooters, or yelling in frustration when someone sneaks up behind them and knifes them in the back, or laughing thier heads off after side-swiping somone's car and seeing it slam into a tree.

Thanks guys - it was a great LAN.

NOTE: In the top picture on the bench, you will see the only sort of apple allowed at a Martian Leader LAN.
In the bottom picture, Xorg has gone home, and has been replaced by a collection of lego.

No macs - just an apple that someone was eating.
