Merry New Year everyone!
I haven’t updated in a few days – mainly because I’ve been otherwise entertained.
Martin (Turkeybrain) came up from Hobart for a few days. Officially I think the trip was to work on the YourChoice website (A project Church is doing) and celebrate New Years.
In practice, it was more about playing games, watching movies – and other awesome things like that.
We learnt some stuff too – in fact, Martin was surprised to learn that if you put a large block of ice in hot water, the ice melts – and the water doesn’t freeze. Exactly why he thought otherwise I’m not sure.
We played some CS and UT, and tried some TA, but it didn’t want to work. Martin even gave my Xbox a whirl (as evidenced in the photo) but decided he didn’t like it all that much.
We also played a lot of Air Hockey – which is especially relevant as I originally decided that I’d like to buy myself a table a little over a year ago after playing it in an arcade with none other than the Turkeybrain himself. So this was sort of like comming full circle.
And it would be remiss of me if I didn’t mention Portal.
Martin had bought himself the Valve Value Pack or something along that line, which came with a mass of great games like CS, HL2, etc. It also came with a game called Portal – which is mostly a puzzle solving game – but was an insane amount of fun.
The song at the end is brilliant too – and currently stuck in my head.
If you have a half-way decent sort of computer – I completely recommend Portal. It’s not overly long – but it’s entirely brilliant.
Oh – and the cake is a lie!
